Refuge, haven, sanctuary
We are passionate about empowering individuals to access effective self-care, so they can find more ease and balance in their lives. This is easier said than done in our busy, modern, ‘always-on’ worlds. So, our ‘retreats’ offer a haven of those precious commodities – space and time. Allowing you to switch off and reconnect to your true self, so you can let go of the characters we often have to wrap ourselves in, mother, father, teacher, worker, friend, carer - to name but a few!
At a Nature & Nourish retreat you will be introduced to some tried and tested rituals and techniques based on the 5,000-year-old Ayurvedic wellness system, which aims to optimize how good you feel about living! Ayu in Sanskrit means life or living substance whilst Veda means, science or knowledge so, Ayurveda is often known at the science of life, a personalised roadmap for your life’s journey.
Ayurveda is based on creating harmony for each individual’s unique constitution. It is not a one-size-fits-all approach. It considers the whole person, physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. It helps assess our environments, relationships, habits and behaviours, to allow us to begin to build a useful, practical awareness of ourselves and our needs. Many have commented that these Ayurvedic and Yogic techniques feel like ‘coming home’, that they are somewhat familiar and that they allow us to intuitively follow the right path for our bodies and minds – if we could only get out of our own way!
A proportion of our income is donated to our nominated community charity - Smart Works Reading.
As our name suggests, we look to nature for our inspiration in choosing locations which are accessible by road and transport but close to nature. So, you will find us in tucked away in woods, pretty villages and even a horse sanctuary.
We specialise in retreats from half a day to a weekend. See this page for information on specific retreats.
What to expect
A warm welcome from experienced yoga teachers Ellie and Colette. Ayurvedic food and drinks that nourish, sustain and are tailored to the season. A welcoming space for yoga, movement, meditation and contemplation. Connection to others to enquire and discover more about the wellness tools and approaches that can bring a little more ease to all our lives. Everyone leaves with a little goody bag of treats, that you can use to continue your self-care at home. No experience of yoga or Ayurveda is needed, just a willingness to engage with these age-old wellbeing techniques and tools, adapted to your unique needs.
What people say
For anyone who’s interested in Ayurveda, or simply interested in understanding your body and mind, I cannot recommend this workshop enough! Lots of self-reflection, self-care, yoga and incredibly delicious food

The retreat was absolutely amazing! I loved being able to focus on myself for the time and dial into how my body was feeling. I learned so much and I came away feeling relaxed, refreshed and with tools to keep myself that way going forward.
